Throughout your Invisalign orthodontic treatment there are some essential items that you'll need to take along with you whenever you're on the go. Here's a helpful list of what you should take when you're on the go.
A pouch
It's a good idea to keep all of your Invisalign maintenance items together in a convenient pouch.
Choose a pouch that's durable so that you can toss it in your backpack, bag, desk or locker. You'll also want to choose a pouch with a lining that's water resistant (for damp toothbrushes) and a sturdy zipper.
Your aligner case
Whenever you take your aligners out of your mouth they need to be cleaned and stored in their case. Keep your aligner case with you at all times so you have a safe, clean place to store your aligners while you're eating, drinking and brushing your teeth.
Lip balm
One side effect of any orthodontic treatment can be dry lips. Keep your lips looking and feeling their best; carry your favourite lip balm in your pouch and use it often throughout the day.
Travel toothbrush, dental floss and toothpaste
You need to brush and floss your teeth before putting the aligners back in, every time you remove your aligners. You don’t want food particles and debris stuck between your aligners and your teeth for the rest of the day. Before returning your aligners to your mouth always remember to thoroughly brush and floss!
“Outie” Aligner removal tool
Occasionally your aligners will be especially tight and difficult to remove. This is most likely to happen when you first switch to a new set. Keep your aligner removal tool in your pouch so that it's handy whenever you need a little help detaching your aligners from your teeth.
Breath spray or mints.
Mints or breath spray will help you feel more confident if you're concerned about bad breath. Remember, you won't be able to chew gum with your Invisalign aligners in.
