Today our Vancouver orthodontists share a little about what you can expect from your Invisalign treatment journey, from start to straighter-new-smile finish.
STEP 1
Plan Your Straight-Smile Journey
Your journey to a straighter smile with Invisalign begins with scheduling a consultation with your orthodontist to find out if Invisalign is the right orthodontic treatment for you. At your consultation the orthodontist will complete a thorough assessment of your teeth and bite, and take detailed digital impressions of your smile. Once your smile assessment is complete, your orthodontist will review your diagnosis, and run through appropriate treatment options for achieving your straight-smile goals.
STEP 2
Make a Reservation
If you're a good candidate for Invisalign, your orthodontist will show you a preview of what your smile could look like once your Invisalign treatment is complete, then forward your digital impressions to the Invisalign technicians to have your first series of custom aligners created just for you.
STEP 3
Hit the Road
As soon as your new aligners are ready for pick-up our office will give you a call. When you visit us to pick up your aligners, your orthodontist will check that the aligners fit correctly, show you how to care for them, and answer any questions you may have.
Throughout your Invisalign treatment period, you will wear each set of aligners for 20-22 hours every day, for approximately two weeks, then switch to the next set of aligners in your treatment series. You will continue this process until your teeth reach their desired positions.
During your treatment you will visit your orthodontist every four to six weeks for brief progress monitoring appointments. These appointments give your orthodontist an opportunity to check on your progress and make any changes that may be required to your treatment plan.
STEP 4
Reaching Your Destination
By following your orthodontist's instructions and wearing your aligners as prescribed, your Invisalign journey will end with a straighter smile that you will be proud of. When you visit us for your final appointment, your orthodontist will prescribe a retainer to wear while your teeth settle into their new corrected positions.
