Invisalign or Braces?

Invisalign or Braces?

Invisalign and braces offer different features to help straighten teeth. Today, our Vancouver orthodontist shares some reasons why you may want to consider Invisalign to straighten your smile.

About Invisalign

Invisalign is a discreet and convenient way to straighten your teeth without the need for brackets and wires. Invisalign orthodontic treatment consists of a series of clear custom aligners that are almost invisible when worn. Meaning that fewer people will notice that you're straightening your smile.

Invisalign's Personalized Treatment Plan

When you choose Invisalign for your orthodontic treatment, your dentist will create a personalized treatment plan to map out the tooth movement facilitated by each custom aligner. Throughout your treatment you will wear each set of custom aligners for approximately two weeks, before switching to the next set of aligners in your treatment series. You simply continue this process as directed by your dentist, until you reach the end of your treatment.

Invisalign vs Braces

For many people, Invisalign clear aligners can be an ideal orthodontic treatment option when compared to traditional braces.

  • In many cases, Invisalign can help to discreetly straighten the smiles of adults, teens and young children thanks to Invisalign's 3 specialized treatment options. Invisalign, Invisalign for Teens, and Invisalign First for children are designed to address the unique needs of each stage in dental development.
  • For patient's who are concerned about the aesthetic of traditional metal braces, Invisalign's clear plastic aligners can straighten teeth without the need for metal brackets and wires. Invisalign's aligners are made from a thin clear plastic and tend to be less visible than braces when worn.
  • Patient's who choose to straighten their teeth with Invisalign, won't need to give up enjoying any of their favourite foods. Invisalign clear aligners are removable. Simply remove the aligners and store them in their handy container whenever it's time to eat. After your meal is over just brush and floss your teeth, rinse the aligners under water and pop them back in place. No need to skip the popcorn on movie night when you straighten your smile with Invisalign!
  • Unlike metal braces, there are no adjustment appointments required with Invisalign aligners. Which means that throughout your Invisalign treatment, you will only need to visit your orthodontist for checkups and progress reviews about every 6 weeks.
