Invisalign First for Children

At Greater Vancouver Orthodontics, we offer Invisalign First, a new range of Invisalign aligners for children.

What is Invisalign First?

Invisalign First treatment is much like standard Invisalign treatment, except it is designed to accommodate developing permanent teeth as they erupt.

Invisalign First can correct common orthodontic issues in children, such as arch development and expansion, tooth spacing, crowding and protrusions, and can change the overall appearance of the smile.

Invisalign First helps guide children's teeth as they grow, which may lessen or eliminate the need for more extensive or invasive orthodontic treatment when they are older.

How Does Invisalign First Work?

Invisalign First helps to expand and contour the jawline via a process called dental arch expansion. This process applies pressure to the teeth over time to increase the width of the dental arch.

Your child will attend a consultation at our office, during which the orthodontist will determine if your child is a candidate for this treatment.

If Invisalign First is right for your child, the orthodontist will commence treatment by taking pictures, x-rays, and impressions of your child’s mouth, teeth and jaws. These will all be sent to an Invisalign lab, where the custom Invisalign First aligner(s) will be made for your child. Once the aligners are ready, your child will attend an appointment at our office to fit the aligner to their smile.

During treatment, the device will shift your child’s teeth into their new positions. Depending on the severity of your child's misalignment, they may require either a pair of aligners (one for the upper and one for the lower jaw) or just one aligner.

Invisalign First Benefits for Kids

Invisalign First can be an alternative to traditional Phase 1 Orthodontic treatment for children because it is:

  • Designed to treat a range of orthodontic issues in children, from simple to complex, including crowding, spacing, and narrow dental arches.
  • Removable, perhaps making it easier for children to brush and floss like they always do.
  • Designed for comfort.
